Vernon Area Public Library District

March/April 2017

The local Vernon Area Library offers a huge variety of classes and events for all ages, toddlers through seniors. Here is just a sampling of what they have planned for March.

Glass Slipper Project Prom Dress Drive / March 6–24

Donate your new or gently used formal dresses and clutch purses to the Glass Slipper Project, a non-profit organization that provides free prom dresses to high school students who are unable to purchase their own. Drop off your donations at the library. Items will be cleaned by Zengeler Cleaners and offered at a Glass Slipper boutique “shopping” event in the Chicagoland area.

Hansel & Gretel / Saturday, March 18, 11 am – 12 pm

Improv Playhouse presents an interactive musical based on the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel (with a hilarious twist!) in this family-friendly performance. Ages 3–10 with an adult, registration required.

Music for Life / Saturday, March 25, 11–11:45 am

Explore the life and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Enjoy live music and activities with instructors from Music Institute of Chicago. Ages 4–8 with an adult, registration required.

Stargazing Apps / Monday, March 27, 7–8:30 pm

Discover apps to explore the night sky with your mobile device. Bring your own device and password or use one of our iPads, preloaded with stargazing apps. Telescopes on-hand for outside star sighting, please dress for the weather. Registration required.
