RPC Native Plant Survey | Sat., April 13th at 10am

Deerfield Road

The Riverwoods Preservation Council (RPC), at the encouragement and assistance of a resident, has formulated a plan to locate, identify and ultimately re-locate many of the hundreds of valued native perennials that will otherwise be lost with the expansion of Deerfield Road.

  • RPC's first step is to identify where these native plants are most abundant along the Deerfield Road Corridor. This year's early Spring has already caused many of the plants to begin their growth.
  • RPC will advise the landowners of its findings so that landowners will have an opportunity to transplant the natives to suitable locations on their properties.
  • RPC will work with landowners to suggest an alternative transplant solution if they are not able or interested in carrying out their own transplant work.

Join the RPC for its first walk along the Deerfield Road Corridor on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10am to map the current growth of native species. Please park at the far west end of the Federal Life property at 3750 Deerfield Road.
