First, let me welcome newly elected Henry Hollander and Eric Goldstein to the Board of Trustees. Eric, as I am sure most of you know, has been serving out an unfinished term from the last Board. Henry has been serving the community as a member of the Plan Commission for a number of years. He will now trade coming to the Village one Thursday night a month for coming to the
Village Hall two Tuesday nights a month.
Second, congratulations to Trustee Cheryl Chamberlain and Village Clerk Irene Gagerman on their well-deserved re-elections to office.
Finally, let me say thank you to the residents of Riverwoods for returning me to office. I look forward to serving you over the next four years.
As reported elsewhere in this issue, we had a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt in April. The weather was as good this year as it was bad last year. Rain or shine, Jackie Borchew and her volunteers always do a great job…… and I suspect they have as much fun as the kids! Why don’t you volunteer to help Jackie with our next Village party and see if I’m right?
Now that the obligatory back patting and congratulations are out of the way, let’s talk about the New Village Hall!
The building is substantially completed and we are now going through punch-list items. Landscaping is underway, although that has been slowed by the recent rainy weather. The building furnishings are set to be delivered in mid-June and the current plan is for staff to begin moving into the building at about the same. A formal ribbon cutting is set for Friday June 23rd. The next day, Saturday June 24th, we have scheduled an open house for all Village residents.
Let me issue an early invitation to everyone to visit your New Village Hall.
John W. Norris
Mayor, Village of Riverwoods
