Macro Photography by Ilze Arajs
October 1 – November 5
Opening Reception Sunday, October 1, 1-3pm
A fern fiddlehead, only an inch or two high, embodies new potential unspiraling from the ground up and from the inside out. What was dormant or inwardly developing begins to move with urgency and direction. As repeated for hundreds of millions of years, these spiral shapes will soon unfurl into the latest expression of an ancient plant form.
Artist Ilze Arajs brings us into the small-scale world of fern fiddleheads by presenting it at human scale. On the threshold of first movement, we are invited to feel our own vitality, vulnerability, and the light-filled spaciousness of future growth.
