Discover Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods
Formerly known as Friends of Ryerson Woods, Brushwood Center seeks to contribute to the development of an environmentally literate citizenry that has the skills, knowledge and inclinations to make well-informed decisions that consider future generations. Brushwood Center holds that environmental education reaches beyond childhood and is a lifelong endeavor. Environmental education extends beyond science to embrace human interaction with nature and its expression, including literature, music, photography, film and other fine and performing arts.
Take a guided nature walk in the woods, enjoy an outdoor yoga class, or take in a summer film under the woodland canopy. For more information on Brushwood Center and all it has to offer visit www.brushwoodcenter.org.
THE WORLD OF BIRDS : AN EXHIBIT
Through June 6 there is a wonderful exhibit of artwork of the Great Lake Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators at the Brushwood Center.
The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators is a non-profit organization of both illustrators and those interested in science illustration. It was founded by illustrators at the Smithsonian Institution in 1968 to provide opportunities to meet, share ideas, and spread the knowledge of visual science techniques. In The World of Birds, members of the GNSI Great Lakes Chapter focus their talents on a single subject to both celebrate and educate the public about our wonderous feathered friends.
Free. No registration required. Exhibition runs through June 6, 2016. Gallery hours: Monday – Thursday 9am – 3pm, Sundays 1 – 3pm or by appointment.
