Many thanks to Mayor Norris and Riverwoods Preservation Council president David Shimberg for planting a swamp white oak to celebrate Arbor Day 2021. The swamp white oak is the most popular tree in Riverwoods because it can tolerate moist bottomlands, heavy shade and compacted soil. The swamp white oak grows at a moderate pace and can live more than 300 years. It’s the kind of tree you plant for not only your enjoyment but for the benefit of generations to come which makes it the perfect addition to the Village Hall woodlands.
