Summer Is Ready for Her New Home | Available for Adoption at Orphans of the Storm

A recent field trip shows how much she needs to get out of the shelter!

Summer is one of the sweetest pups at Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter! She has experience living in a home with children and is waiting for a new leash on life after being returned to us through no fault of her own.

Summer recently went on a field trip with volunteers and received a glowing report card! Here's what they said:

"When we took Summer out of the car at the park, she jumped for joy!! She seriously did!! She was so happy and excited to be at the park. Summer was awesome at the park; she walked past people and dogs without issue. We had to pass by a dog on a narrow path, and I kept her close to me, and she did great!! While walking, she was confident, attentive to us, and loved to explore. At one point, we sat down with Summer on a blanket, and she sat down on me!! She showed us how she knows sit, down, and paw. The most exciting thing she did at the park was play with a toy. Summer has never shown any interest in toys at the shelter. She was happily tossing her toy in the air. I seriously could’ve cried. Summer was so affectionate, loving, and sweet. She showed us how she would make an excellent running partner by running through the field with Michayla. Summer enjoyed her burger, fries, and ice cream at Culver's, all of which she sat patiently for and took very gently. Summer was so sweet on the ride back, and snuggled close and gave a few kisses!! Everyone knows how different a dog is once you get them away from the shelter, but Summer’s transformation away from the shelter was beyond incredible."
