What does it mean to be silent? And what does it mean to be heard?
Brushwood Center's spring concert with the Chicago Chamber Choir explores these themes juxtaposing Benjamin Britten’s iconic Hymn to St. Cecilia - a song celebrating musicians and sound - with arrangements of two more recent songs: Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence and Simon & Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence. Living choral composers round out the program including Vanessa Land’s plea to “let in your voice” and Saunder Choi’s setting of Emma Lazarus' The New Colossus which begs us not to be silent in the face of those seeking refuge.
Join Brushwood Center for a moving and transfixing 60 minute concert.
