SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake County) is sponsoring a Household Chemical Waste (HCW) Collection Event for Illinois Residents only.  Click here to schedule your appointment (required).  

Accepted Items Include:

• Aerosol Products
• Antifreeze & Motor Oil
• Fertilizers/Herbicides/Pesticides
• Fluorescent Light Bulbs/CFLs
• Furniture Stripper & Varnishes
• Gasoline & Kerosene
• Lithium/Nicad Batteries
• Household Cleaners
• Oil-Based Paints & Paint Removers
• Prescription and over-the counter medicines and supplements (people & pet)
• NO DEA Controlled Substances

Not Accepted: Latex paint, empty paint cans or “treated” paint, DEA Controlled substances, business wastes, farm chemicals, propane tanks, lab chemicals, lead-acid & alkaline batteries, explosives, medical wastes, construction/demolition debris, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors & household electronics.

Additional Public Drop Off Events

SWALCO will also be hosting their regular HCW Public Drop Events at their Gurnee facility (1311 N. Estes St, Gurnee) on September 16th & 30th. Appointments are required.
