With the arrival of warm weather comes an increase in outdoor activity and a good time to review the Village of Riverwoods Noise Ordinance. Here is a quick summary.
Construction and Landscape Work
Permissible hours for engine-powered landscaping equipment and for construction work are between the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M. on weekdays, other than Saturday, and between the hours of eight-thirty o'clock (8:30) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M. on Saturday. The Village has always made allowances for landscape work by persons doing work on premises owned by them and not for compensation between the hours of eight-thirty o'clock (8:30) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M. on Sunday.
Music and Other Noise
Music and other noise typically associated with a party or celebration is prohibited between the hours of eleven o'clock (11:00) P.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) A.M., or at any time or place so as to annoy or disturb the peace, quiet, comfort or repose of persons in any office, or in any dwelling, hotel or other type of residence, or of persons in the vicinity, within the limits of the village.
