Police Press Release Activity 02/28/24 to 03/08/24

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Warrant Arrest

On 03/03/2024, at 6:46 a.m., police stopped a vehicle near Lake Cook Road and Portwine Road and cited the driver, WAYNE M. FRAZIER JR., male, age 28, of the 2600 block of W. Gladys Avenue, Chicago, IL, for misdemeanor speeding. Wayne was found to have an active warrant for his arrest from Wheeling PD for the offence of Strong-Armed Robbery, as well as an undetermined warrant out of Chicago. Wheeling Police responded to the site of the traffic stop and took custody of the subject on their warrant.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On 03/03/24 at 1:59 p.m., police stopped a vehicle near Lake Cook Road and Portwine Road for a speeding offense. An inquiry into the vehicle identification number revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen by Chicago PD. A roadside investigation determined that the driver, after seeing the vehicle for sale on Facebook, had unknowingly purchased the stolen vehicle from a person who had utilized a false identity to obtain a fake title. The vehicle was recovered for its rightful owner and no charges were filed against the driver.

Mail Theft Arrest

On 03/04/2024, police responded to a residence on the 400 block of Muirfield Lane after a resident victim alerted police that a known neighbor was removing and opening their mail from their residence mailbox.  Police stopped and arrested EUGENE S. KANTAROVICH, male, age 40, of the 400 block of Muirfield Lane, Riverwoods, IL a short distance away and charged him with Theft after a field investigation determined that he opened and photographed mail belonging to the victim.  Kantarovich is due to appear at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan on March 28, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.
