Mayor Ford Statement on Highland Park July 4th Shooting
Mayor Ford released the following statement regarding the tragic shooting at the Highland Park 4th of July parade:
Our Highland Park neighbors suffered a senseless and vile attack on the 4th of July. Seven people murdered and a child orphaned. So many others wounded. Still others with their memories. The survivors who can’t forget, can’t un-see what they’ve seen. All while watching a parade. Our deepest sympathies to those individuals and families who suffered such an unthinkable loss.
This heinous act reminds us that all communities can be touched by gun violence.
We are grateful for the responders, for our police and fire officers who are steadfast in serving and protecting our communities.
Riverwoods stands with our Highland Park neighbors as we all grieve this community loss, and as we search for answers to the issue of gun violence.
