Community Services and Building Department Updates

At the last Board of Trustees meeting, the Director of Community Services, Steve Witt, presented a broad overview of current projects that are underway in addition to the day-to-day operations and regular resident assistance.  He began by recognizing the hard work and dedication of the Village’s Community Services Coordinator, Vivian Hofeld, emphasizing her commitment and energy in executing numerous tasks that are essential to the Village.

Among important items of focus were projects that revolved around the following areas: permitting, inspections, engineering, construction, service agreements, building codes, planning and zoning, adjudication hearings, and support of the Plan Commission. 

Additionally, the following updates are among the recent highlights:

• Inspections and plan reviews with some exceptions are now being done in-house
• Engaged with GHA to review and manage road and infrastructure projects
• Reviewing building codes for upgrading and revisions to improve certain construction requirements for safety
• Effected the reinstatement of Administrative Court to gain compliance with Village Ordinances
