Committees Are Forming – This is a Great Time to Get Involved with Your RPC

July/August 2014

By Mike Clayton, RPC President

“I don’t have a lot of time but I want to participate.”

“The RPC is involved in so many different things but I am really interested in one or two”.

“I just don’t know how to get started”.

We Hear You. And we also know that you have a strong interest in keeping Riverwoods the unique and special place that it is today. The RPC not only wants your participation but we need your participation - within the boundaries of what is possible for you.

With this in mind, we have broken done our activities into four Committees, each with Co-Chairs from the RPC Board. The Committees are:

Community Action (Co-Chairs Sheila Hollander, Louise Simonson): recycling; education programs such as the recent one on water; and the family program on snakes, clean up day, etc.

Conservancy (Co-Chairs Tim Tomkovich, Laurie Breitkopf, Sheila Hollander): Village rain gardens, green infrastructure studies, Village cost-sharing programs, etc.

Policy Advocacy (Co-Chairs Rich Koomjian, Laurie Breitkopf): bike path, electrical aggregation, water management, etc.

Communication (Co-Chairs Rick Jamerson, Louise Simonson, Tim Tomkovich): Website and Facebook updates, Village Board meeting reporting, Village Voice articles, etc.

With Committees like this you can pick the one you like, focus on a particular thing they do, share an idea or take on a small task. Maybe you have some ideas about streamlining the Village cost-sharing programs. Perhaps you would want to help with our fall educational event. By hooking up with a Committee, we now have a way for you to contribute to keeping Riverwoods special while keeping things manageable for you at the same time. PLEASE take a moment to let us know. And we’ll take it from there.

You can reach us at riverwoodsrpc@comcast.net or P.O. Box 122, Deerfield, IL 60015 or just pick up the phone and call me directly at 847-867-0947.
